Quale intervallo otterrai realmente?
Il dato ufficiale è un risultato di laboratorio a temperatura moderata. Due fattori lo compromettono in un viaggio reale: velocità sostenuta e freddo.
Perché la velocità costa così tanto
A velocità urbane, gran parte della tua energia va nell'accelerare la massa, e la frenata rigenerativa recupera una buona parte di essa. In autostrada quasi nessuna di essa viene recuperata: stai continuamente spingendo l'aria fuori dal tuo cammino, e quel costo aumenta con il quadrato della tua velocità mentre la potenza richiesta aumenta con il cubo.
La conseguenza pratica è che la differenza tra 110 e 130 km/h è molto più grande di quanto suggerisca la differenza di velocità del 18%. In un lungo viaggio, ridurre di 20 km/h spesso evita una sosta per ricarica, risparmiando più tempo di quanto ne costi.

Due effetti si sommano. L'abitacolo ha bisogno di riscaldamento, e in un'auto con riscaldamento resistivo che attinge direttamente dalla batteria di trazione. Inoltre, il pacco stesso accetta e fornisce energia meno prontamente quando è freddo, il che rallenta anche la ricarica rapida. Studi che misurano gli effetti della temperatura ambiente sul consumo quantificano il risultato combinato [1].
